Ouchi-juku and Minamiaizu Excursion
This excursion visits historic towns and natural landscapes in the Minamiaizu area of Fukushima Prefecture.
First, we will visit Ouchi-juku, a former post town from the Edo period that still preserves its traditional atmosphere. You can walk through the streets lined with thatched-roof houses and enjoy local cuisine.
After that, we will visit To-no-Hetsuri, a scenic area famous for its unusual rock formations that were shaped by river erosion over many years.
Ouchi-juku is a village that flourished as a post town on the Aizu Nishi Kaido road during the Edo period.
Even today, rows of traditional thatched-roof houses are preserved, and the area has been designated as a National Important Preservation District for Historic Buildings.
