Fukushima City Excursion
Orchard • Temple • Traditional Craft • Sake Brewery Experience
This excursion allows participants to experience Fukushima’s food culture, traditional culture, and sake-brewing culture in one day.
The program includes:
cherry picking at a fruit orchard
a visit to a historic temple
a traditional craft experience
a visit to a sake brewery
Through these activities, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the local culture of Fukushima.
Fukushima is one of Japan’s major fruit-producing regions.
At the orchard, participants can enjoy cherry-picking, tasting fresh fruit harvested directly from the trees.
Visitors will also learn about:
the climate of the Fukushima Basin
the characteristics of fruit cultivation in the region
Nakano Fudoson is one of the most famous sacred sites in Fukushima City.
The temple grounds are surrounded by rich nature and include waterfalls and rock cliffs, creating a unique spiritual atmosphere.
Visitors can experience elements of:
Japanese mountain worship traditions
Buddhist culture
At Shiki no Sato, participants will experience a traditional craft activity by painting a kokeshi doll.
Kokeshi are wooden dolls that represent an important part of Japanese folk art.
Participants can design and create their own original kokeshi doll.
Fukushima Prefecture is well known as a major sake-producing region in Japan.
At the brewery, participants will:
observe the sake-brewing process
learn about traditional brewing techniques
After the tour, a sake tasting session is planned.
Because sake breweries maintain a delicate fermentation environment, participants are asked to pay attention to food and personal items on the day of the visit.
Please cooperate with the following rules:
Do not eat fermented foods such as natto or yogurt before the visit
Avoid fruits that may carry mold spores, such as citrus fruits
Do not use perfume or strong hair products
Strong odors can interfere with the aroma of the sake and may also affect the brewing environment.
The excursion will be conducted as a group tour (about 30 participants), so please arrive on time.
Please wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes.
Driving after sake tasting is strictly prohibited.
